Winnersh Parish Council
Donations to Local Organisations
The Council reserves a part of its annual budget for donations to organisations
that make a significant contribution to the local community. Organisations
that the Council has been able to help over the past year or two include:
- Berkshire County Blind Society
- Berkshire Disability Information Network
- Church of St. Mary
- Keep Mobile
- Mobile Information Centre
- NSPCC
- Readibus
- St Catherine's Church
- Winnersh Fuel Allotment Trust
- Winnersh Historical Society
- Wokingham Citizen's Advice Bureau
- Wokingham District Arts Council
- Wokingham Job Support Centre
- Wokingham Volunteer Centre
Donations have also been made to young people to help them pursue sports activities
through the Wokingham District Council Sports Grants scheme, and to groups holding
parties for the elderly for the Queen's Jubilee and at Christmas.
There is only a small amount of money available in total and there are many
deserving causes, so the Council is not able to contribute to them all.
All requests are assessed on an individual basis against some guidelines:
- donations must conform to statutory Local Government rules
- commercial organisations are not eligible to receive donations
- donations are only given to organisations operating within Winnersh or
which can demonstrate that their activities are of direct benefit to Winnersh
or to residents of Winnersh - any applications for donations should make clear
how this criteria is met
- in general, specific projects are considered more favourably than contributions
to general running costs
