Expansion works at the Winnersh Triangle park and ride have temporarily reduced the available spaces in the car park. Whilst these works continue, Reading Buses will be temporarily moving the park and ride service to the all-new Thames Valley park and ride located in Earley.

Reading Buses will be providing a new temporary park and ride service, numbered 400, from Thames Valley car park from 29 November which will bring users into Reading town centre. This is to ensure there is enough parking for park and ride customers, as the temporarily reduced car park at Winnersh Triangle was regularly over capacity meaning bus users were finding it difficult to find a space.

The current 500 Winnersh Triangle bus service will be suspended from 29 November. The Winnersh Triangle car park will still be in use for those using the train service during the construction process.

The 400 service will collect customers from the Thames Valley park and ride which can be found at the end of the A3290 and will continue to run every 15 minutes.

Cllr Pauline Jorgensen, executive member for highways and transport said: “The works toward expanding the Winnersh Triangle park and ride are well underway across the whole site. During construction, the number of car parking spaces is reduced, so we have worked with Reading Buses to temporarily move the park and ride bus, to allow our residents to continue using both the park and ride, and still have enough parking spaces for those catching a train.”

“Sustainable travel is very important, and we are pleased Reading Buses have been able to offer this temporary service, which will allow everyone to continue to travel easily in an environmentally responsible way. We thank our residents for their understanding during this temporary change.”

Reading Buses Chief Executive Officer, Robert Williams, said “We are delighted to have been able to work with Wokingham Borough Council to continue to offer a park and ride service for the residents. With Christmas just around the corner, we will now have plenty of space for customers wanting a cheap and easy way to travel into Reading.”

“We hope that people begin using the new, temporary, park & ride straight away from 29 November – fares are the same as on the Winnersh Triangle park and ride and current passes will be valid. We are also using the same buses and friendly drivers that regular customers know and love.”
