What does the Group do?

We organise about 60 leisurely paced 4 to 6 mile walks on weekdays and weekends throughout the year, usually within a 10-15 miles radius of the centre of Wokingham. We also arrange some London walks and others further afield. We have an active programme of monthly meetings with relevant and entertaining speakers, social events, suppers, Christmas lunch, charity fundraising quizzes and organise an annual UK walking holiday.

Object

The Group was formed to increase opportunities for all like minded adults to gain safe access to the countryside and promote friendship amongst members by providing a regular programme of walks and related activities. No one will ever know the pleasure that walking and talking within a group can bring until it has been experienced.

The Group was formed in September 1999 under the auspices of Wokingham District Countryside Services by amalgamating the Women’s Walking Group and the Over 50’s Mixed Walking Group. After two years the Group formed its own management committee and all walks are member devised and led.
