Winnersh Parish Council|

Saturday 17th June 2023 saw the annual Winnersh Summer Fete on Bearwood Recreation Ground. The sun was shining and Winnersh Parish Council welcomed a variety of stall holders from local business, organisations and charities to the fete along with a full arena display of events, live music and refreshments.

Those that attended the fete were treated to live music from saxophone group, Saxcelrate, refreshments from St Mary the Virgin, Winnersh, Gorilla Graze Box, and a BBQ run by 1st Winnersh Scout group. There were attractions such as Circus Scene, bouncy castles and archery from Dinton Pastures Country Park. The arena displayed maypole dancing from Bearwood Primary School, a dance performance from The Dance Zone, Winnersh Rangers Football drills along with tug of war completions and wheelbarrow races.

There was a presentation to three Winnersh Civic Award winners for their volunteer work in the local community. Harry Peksa who has made an enormous effort litter picking around Winnersh, Graham Clifford who has fought to resolve issues with the Hatch Farm development and Nadine Chapman Shave who is the leader of 1st Winnersh Beavers group. The awards were presented by Wokingham Borough Council Mayor Cllr Beth Rowland. Cllr Rowland also presented the medals and trophies to the winners of the tug of war and wheelbarrow races.

The fete organisers chose LINK Visiting Scheme and First Days Children’s Charity as this years charity recipients.
