This year, St Catherine Bearwood, Bearwood Road, Sindlesham, is celebrating a birthday – it is 175 years since the church’s Consecration on 23rd April 1846, in a service conducted by Samuel Wilberforce, Bishop of Oxford and son of William Wilberforce.

Flower Festival at St Catherine's Bearwood The Flower Festival will run on Saturday 12th June from 10am-4pm and on Sunday 13th June between 12pm and 4pm. There will be 14 individual flower arrangements, each depicting an event or connection to the church throughout its history, on display inside along with paintings by Stephen Walter, brother of John Walter II. John Walter was responsible for building the church, which is dedicated to the memory of his daughter, Catherine, who died in 1844.  The paintings have been donated to the church by Stephen Walter’s granddaughters to raise money as part of our Appeal.

One of these paintings will be raffled over the course of the weekend – tickets available in the church – and the winner will be notified after the draw, which will take place at 3pm on the afternoon of Sunday, 13th June.

There will also be a stall selling garden products, including plants, as well as one selling teas, coffees, soft drinks, biscuits and homemade cakes.
